Now this wasn't his first excuse, nor his last (which is a great story to tell and you will hear it in good time) but it is definitely one of my favorites:
Call received at 09:30 (he was due to start at 09:00):
"Sorry I'm late, I was actually there on time, but as I was coming out of the tube station I got knocked down the stairs. I'm OK but I tore my trousers and so I have had to go home and change them..."
Jim arrived at work at 11:03, he had also stopped for breakfast and was carrying a Benjy's bag with him. I was not impressed.
Welcome to the home of excuses...
I've been threatening to create this blog for a while now and now I find myself with a week off and nothing else to do ( I have to oversee builders - only so much fun to be had there). So, what's it all about?
This is to be an account of all the excuses staff give as a reason for being late or not coming in at all and to kick it off I will be posting a few of the select excuses I have received from a recent ex-employee whose excuses got to be just a little too much to swallow... Jim (hence the title see?)
Of course what would be great is if you lot could send in any excuses you have heard or better yet used yourself to get out of work! Come on share the knowledge people, communities are what the Internet was created for and besides, if nothing else it will waste some of your dull day and maybe give somebody else a whole day off for free!So without further preamble, here is one to start you off...
